ELES Group AEROSPACE & DEFENSE DIVISION: A NEW INNOVATIVE INTEGRATED HALT & HASS SOLUTION IS BORN IN COLLABORATION WITH ANGELANTONI TEST TECHNOLOGIES
Todi (PG), 15 July 2025 - ELES S.p.A., an innovative SME listed on Euronext Growth Milan and a worldwide provider of semiconductor device (IC) test solutions with Safety and Mission Critical applications, is pleased to announce that it has taken a new strategic step in consolidating its leadership in the Mission Critical Application market with CBL Electronics, Aerospace & Defense division, through the development of a fully integrated HALT & HASS solution, realised in collaboration with Angelantoni Test Technologies (ATT).
The initiative, strongly championed by Antonio Zaffarami, Chairman of ELES and strategic lead for the Aerospace & Defense division of CBL Electronics, marks a key milestone in enhancing the company’s offering for mission-critical sectors.
The fully integrated HALT & HASS solution developed by ELES and ATT has already attracted interest from major industry players, with ongoing POCs (Proof of Concept) underway.
The A&D division now positions itself as a reference point for electronic reliability in mission-critical sectors, where robustness and safety are non-negotiable requirements that demand advanced testing and qualification methodologies. In sectors such as aerospace and defense, where reliability is essential and any failure represents an unacceptable risk, traditional production and testing approaches are no longer sufficient. It is crucial to implement innovative, integrated strategies capable of identifying and preventing defects from the earliest stages of the product lifecycle.
At the heart of ELES’s offering for the A&D sector lies the “Learn from Failures” methodology, successfully applied for years in the semiconductor market. This approach involves introducing targeted reliability tests during qualification and pre-production phases, with the goal of collecting critical data to identify the root causes of anomalies. Testing is no longer seen merely as a tool for identifying and discarding weak devices, but as a strategic lever for continuously improving both design and manufacturing processes, through structured adoption of Design for Reliability (DfR) and Manufacturing for Reliability (MfR) practices.
The foundation of this reliability process is based on HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) for qualification and HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screening) for production control of electronic modules and systems. Although these methodologies are well-known, the current market lacks complete solutions: while tools exist to generate accelerated stress, they are rarely integrated with specific test systems. This often forces companies to develop custom, non-industrialized, and frequently unreliable solutions - leading to operational and validation issues.
Thanks to the partnership with ATT - a leading company in environmental chambers and thermal stress systems - ELES has developed a fully integrated HALT & HASS platform that combines:
- ELES’ modular, configurable test benches, adaptable to the device under test and equipped with real-time data acquisition;
- ATT’s environmental stress chambers, designed to simulate extreme operating conditions in full compliance with HALT and HASS standards.
The solution ensures high automation of the entire test process, integrating intelligent data collection and advanced software analysis.
The result is a unique platform capable not only of executing HALT & HASS tests automatically, but also of quickly providing critical insights into design weaknesses and production process instabilities. This approach enables technical teams to take swift corrective action, eliminate defect causes, and ultimately produce robust designs and reliable, stable processes—free from defects.
Antonio Zaffarami, Chairman of ELES S.p.A., stated:
"The reliability of electronic systems is today the true challenge for all players in mission-critical sectors. Only through an integrated approach like the one we define as ‘LEARN FROM FAILURES’, starting with HALT & HASS testing, is it possible to prevent defects in a structural and sustainable way. It is no surprise that the global reliability test solutions market—including HALT and HASS testing—is rapidly growing, projected to increase from $1.12 billion in 2024 to over $2.8 billion by 2033, according to Business Research Insights. This trend confirms that reliability is no longer just a technical requirement but a decisive competitive factor. Together with ATT, we chose to anticipate the market by offering a fully integrated, automated HALT & HASS testing platform ready to support customers in building robust, defect-free, and truly sustainable products."

Massimiliano Bellucci, CEO of CBL, added:
"The joint ELES–ATT offering goes beyond providing hardware, forming a complete ecosystem to ensure reliability in mission-critical contexts. It includes:
- Support in defining customized test programs for each type of device;
- Technical consulting and data analysis services aimed at identifying root causes of anomalies;
- Technical training to build and strengthen customer teams’ internal skills;
- Creation of knowledge libraries, enabling scalable application of reliability principles to new products and production lines.
The goal is not only to eliminate defects at the design or process level but also to transform acquired experience and results into libraries of best practices. These practices, based on Design for Reliability (DfR) and Manufacturing for Reliability (MfR), become a cornerstone for developing new solutions. This approach not only improves the robustness of designs and stability of manufacturing processes but also represents the most effective and sustainable path to achieving and maintaining high standards of reliability over time."
Gianluigi Angelantoni, Chairman of ATT, concluded:
"We chose to participate in this important Reliability Test project because of the wealth of ideas and expertise ELES brings to the market. This collaboration focuses on developing new integrated solutions to ensure and maintain high reliability standards by eliminating defects both at the design and process level. Our HALT & HASS chambers, capable of operating under extreme conditions, are a perfect fit with ELES’ hardware, software, and technical consulting solutions."
